Established in 1879, the Louisville Boat Club resides on a 33-acre plot on the shore of the Ohio River in Louisville, Kentucky.  The Club remains committed to the principles of which it was founded:  To be the Premier Racquets, Boating and Social Club in the Midwest and South. 

Steeped in rich tradition, the Louisville Boat Club has the distinct privilege of being the third oldest boating club in the country, as well as being the first social club in Jefferson County and Louisville.   The Club has evolved from a fraternity of river-minded men to one focused on offering an exceptional membership experience to its many members and their families; many of whom serve in positions of distinction as leaders in our esteemed community and city.    

The following comprise the Club’s facilities:

  • Extensive Banquet facilities for events of all sizes including catering and bar options
  • Full-service Clubhouse bar and dining area featuring an overview of the outdoor courts and river
  • 27 boat slips and dry boat storage
  • 11 outdoor clay tennis courts
  • 4 indoor hard courts
  • 6 pickleball courts outdoor & 4 indoor
  • 2 platform tennis courts
  • 1 international doubles squash court & 2 international singles squash courts
  • 2 bocce courts
  • 1 baby and 1 junior size Olympic swimming pool
  • Outdoor bar and dining area featuring a gourmet kitchen, televisions, a fireplace, and soft seating
  • A 2,000 square foot Health & Fitness Center along with complimentary exercise classes
  • Fully functioning Ladies and Gentlemen’s locker rooms
  • Full service Pro Shop for all Racquet sports
  • LBC members have the opportunity to make tee times at Owl Creek Country Club by calling the Owl Creek Pro Shop at 502-245-4156. Members will be charged $40 per player plus a $20 cart fee. All fees will be charged to the member’s LBC account.

The Louisville Boat Club offers an array of programs and special events for the membership to enjoy throughout the year.  These offerings include staples such as Easter and Mother’s Day Brunches to LBC specific ones such as the annual Dock and Great Steamboat Race parties.   Additionally, the Club’s Racquets Program maintains a professional staff that offers instruction in tennis, pickleball, squash and platform tennis covering beginners to advanced instruction. The club is very family friendly by providing programs and events for those of all ages including the swim team, junior racquets lessons and teams, and fun club events.

Membership to the Louisville Boat Club is by invitation and approval of the Club. Each nominee is required to have a Sponsor for membership.

Regular Membership

The Regular Membership is for those 35 and over. This membership entitles the Member, spouse or significant other, and all dependent children up to the age of 23 to full use privileges of all Club facilities.  Regular Members who have satisfied the entire initiation fee may vote and hold office and are subject to assessments as determined by the Board of Directors.

Membership Fees:
Initiation Fee $7,500 Payable in full upon acceptance
Monthly Dues $450


Junior Membership

The Junior Membership is limited to those individuals ages 23-28 and entitles the Member, spouse or significant other, full use privileges of all Club facilities. Junior Members who have satisfied the entire initiation fee may vote or hold office. Additionally, Junior Members are subject to 10% of an assessment, as determined by the Board of Directors after one full year of membership.

On his or her 30th birthday, Junior Members shall upgrade to Intermediate Membership status in accordance with Club Bylaws and pay Intermediate Member dues and the difference in initiation.

Membership Fees:
Initiation Fee $500 Paid in full upon acceptance
Monthly Dues $150
 

Premium Clubhouse Membership

The Premium Clubhouse Membership entitles the Member, spouse or significant other, and all dependent children up to the age of 23 to full use of the Club’s pickleball facilities, social, dining, meeting, and locker room privileges. Premium Clubhouse Members shall have the privilege of using the fitness facility (less programming /classes) and the privilege to apply for slip rental. The Premium Clubhouse Membership does not allow use of the swimming, tennis, or squash except as a guest of a Full Member.  Premium Clubhouse Members may not vote or hold office and are subject to assessments as determined by the Board of Directors.

Membership Fees:
Initiation Fee $3,000 Payable in full upon acceptance
Monthly Dues $290


 

Intermediate Membership

The Intermediate Membership is limited to those individuals ages 29-34 and entitles the Member, spouse or significant other, full use privileges of all Club facilities.  Intermediate Members who have satisfied the entire initiation fee may vote or hold office and are subject to assessments as determined by the Board of Directors.

 

On his or her 35th birthday, Intermediate Members shall upgrade to Regular Membership status in accordance with Club Bylaws and pay Regular Member dues.

 

Membership Fees:

Initiation Fee $3,000 Payable in full upon acceptance

Monthly Dues $245

Clubhouse Membership

The Clubhouse Membership entitles the Member, spouse or significant other, and all dependent children up to the age of 21 to full use of the Club’s social, dining, meeting and locker room privileges. Clubhouse Members shall have the privilege of using the fitness facility (less programming/classes) and the privilege to apply for slip rental. The Clubhouse Membership does not allow use of the swimming, tennis, pickleball, or squash except as a guest of a Full Member.  Clubhouse Members may not vote or hold office and are subject to assessments as determined by the Board of Directors.

Monthly Dues $245
